Understand the current interview journey

INSEAD currently describes a Kira video and written assessment after submission. Candidates who are pre-selected are then invited to interview with two alumni, typically in their country of residence. Treat these as connected stages: the same career logic and motivation should hold across your written application, recorded responses and live conversations.

Prepare around the admissions criteria

INSEAD publishes four broad criteria: ability to contribute, academic capacity, international motivation and leadership potential. Do not repeat these labels. Prepare evidence that lets an interviewer infer them.

• A decision showing initiative and responsibility.
• An international experience that changed how you work.
• A contribution you could make to classmates and the community.
• A realistic post-MBA direction and the gap the programme addresses.
• A setback or development area discussed with self-awareness.

Prepare for the video assessment

Recorded answers reward clarity under time pressure. Practise making one point, supporting it with one example and ending cleanly. Do not memorise scripts: varied practice questions are more useful than repeating the same polished answer.

Prepare for two alumni conversations

Know your application in detail and be ready to expand on choices, transitions, leadership examples and career goals. Because alumni bring different professional perspectives, prepare the logic of your candidacy rather than predicting an identical question list.
