Make the connection between your goals, LBS and your contribution.

Prepare a coherent interview narrative grounded in your application, programme research, leadership evidence and realistic career direction.

LBS interview formats vary by programme and may change. Check your invitation and the current official programme page before preparing.

Understand what the interview adds

For its MBA, London Business School currently states that selected applicants are interviewed by alumni or senior admissions staff and that interview feedback is considered with the initial application. Graduate Masters interviews may also be conducted by alumni or Admissions team members. Your answers therefore need to deepen—not contradict—the written narrative.

Build one coherent candidacy

  1. Past: the choices and experiences that shaped your direction.
  2. Present: the gap or opportunity making further study relevant now.
  3. LBS: the specific programme resources that address that gap.
  4. Future: a plausible role, sector and geography after the programme.
  5. Contribution: what classmates would gain from your experience and perspective.

Go beyond rankings and location

“Global network” and “London” are starting points, not complete reasons. Research the curriculum, clubs, experiential opportunities, career ecosystem and community. Then connect only the features that genuinely support your stated goals.

Prepare evidence, not adjectives

Claims such as collaborative, entrepreneurial or resilient need examples. Prepare stories about leadership, teamwork, conflict, feedback and a setback, then practise explaining your decisions and learning concisely.

Questions worth practising

  • Why LBS and why this specific programme?
  • Why is now the right time?
  • What are your post-programme goals?
  • What makes you distinctive?
  • How will you contribute to the LBS community?
  • Tell me about a leadership challenge or difficult team situation.
  • What recent business issue matters to your goals?

Use current official information

Check the relevant LBS programme page. MBA applicants can start with the official MBA application page; Graduate Masters candidates should verify the process for their specific degree.

Practise the interview, not a generic question list.

We can test the consistency of your application narrative and challenge vague claims with realistic follow-ups.
